Living in the Region

Grünstadt is located in the Leinigerland and thus in the middle of the beautiful South-West wine region of Germany “Palatinate” – one of the most beautiful landscapes in Germany. The pictures can certainly give you a first impression – if you have not been here yet.

Hard to show by pictures: Openness and sociability are part of people’s philosophy here! “Strangers” are quickly feeling home and integrated, and so quickly you are invited by the neighbors on a glass of wine. Speaking of wine, the Palatinate region is often called “Tuscany of Germany”. The very warm climate here and the daily view over the wine yards of Germany’s largest wine area are the reason for that – as well as architecture and vegetation like in southern Europe.

Grünstadt lies also also just a view minutes away from the large Palatinate Forest, the largest contiguous forest area in Europe, which invites families from near and far, athletes and tourists to various excursions. Culture and history can be explored for example through the numerous castles and palaces directly. Wonderful for young and old!

Finally, a big benefit of this region is the closeness to metropolitan areas. Although it is green, relaxed and personal here in the everyday life, the distances to cities are not far away from large centers and cities like Mannheim, Heidelberg, Karlsruhe, Frankfurt or Wiesbaden. All these cities are reached by car in less than one hour. The Rhein-Neckar area is the seventh largest economic area of Germany, just 15 minutes away. This offers a world of options for shopping, sports, education, work and leisure opportunities for all interests and ages.

Some example distances:

Flughafen Frankfurt/Main: 45 min.
Flughafen Hahn (“cheap airlines”): 60 min.

Universities Mannheim, Mainz, Heidelberg: 15-40 min.

Shopping center Mannheim/Ludwigshafen: 15 min.

Skiing in the Black Forest: 2 hrs.
Skiing on Vorarlberg: 3,5 hrs.

As you can see, also skiing regions are not too far away, and from 2-4 hours our can enjoy mountains and snow on an elevation up to 3.000 m. The German Ocean can be reached in about 4-5 hours, offering healthy climate and nice beaches. Being in the center of Europe here, this includes a short distance to European neighbors like France (40 minutes), Luxemburg (90 minutes), Belgium (90 minutes), Netherlands (120 minutes) or Switzerland (150 minutes).

After all, the housing market is also a big highlight for the region. In addition to all the advantages mentioned, you will find ere something for almost every taste: modern or picturesque, vineyard or forest location? What do you prefer? The rental prices are fair, but always depending on the single case and surely a lot lower that in metropolitan areas.

If you now ask yourself: “Where is a snag in it, please?” Our answer would be: “A snag? Guess why we live here!”
